My Approach

How do I work?

I am a psychodynamic counsellor, and this means we will try and understand the connections between events in your past, including in childhood, and who and how you are now. Knowing how the past affects the present allows you to make more active and informed choices about the future.

What happens in counselling?

You can talk about anything at all in the sessions. Nothing is out of bounds. Together, we think about what you bring and what might lie behind it – this is where understanding the past comes in. Then you can consider what changes you may wish to make, develop your own solutions and together we can work out how best to achieve them.

Who can I help?

I help people deal with a wide range of different problems, which may include:

  • Abuse, including sexual abuse
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Depression
  • General difficulties in life
  • Loss – now, or in the past
  • Post-traumatic stress
  • Problems with self-confidence
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Stress in general
  • Work issues
